As a fledgling club starting out in Step 6 of English National League System, Jersey Bulls FC were looking to establish an online presence and build awareness within the island. WeDigital was selected to be the club’s first Digital Partner, creating a website and providing input into their initial marketing campaigns.
Jersey Bulls required a website that would enable them to engage fans and further the commercial aims of the club. We adopted a staged approach to the design that would allow Jersey Bulls to provide a visible web presence for its stakeholders, with initial focus on displaying basic details for those unfamiliar with the new club.
Prior to commencement, we agreed a roadmap plan for the website with Jersey Bulls, plotting out the site’s progression to evolve with the developing requirements of the club. Once the landing page was created, we began to work on adding new modules to the site. The website now contains a fixtures and results section, online shop and ticketing portal, and will continue to develop in parallel with opportunities going forward.
One of the primary functions of the website is to act as an information source for fans, providing them with the details they need to support the club in their inaugural season. To achieve this, we worked to understand the key reasons fans visit club websites - news, fixtures, results and tickets. We then set priorities for features that also aligned with Bulls’ commercial aspirations.
To align with the expectations and intent of visitors, we designed the site’s focal hub around this core fixtures/results/ticket dynamic. A bespoke integrated approach was developed, allowing visitors to browse fixtures and previews, view results and match reports, and purchase tickets - all from a single view.
As a new club, we understood Bulls commercial imperative to begin generating income. One of the first developments added to the site was therefore an online shop. We designed a simple, easy to navigate ecommerce workflow to allow Bulls fans to make purchases, no matter what device they are using. In this way, Bulls were able to make a running start to commercial activity online, building momentum and creating fan affinity through merchandise sales.
To boost the online presence of the club’s commercial partners and add value to their sponsorship, we integrated their brands into the website. The placements were designed to fit seamlessly, not compete with, the content. For example, match day sponsors are listed naturally on single match pages. Meanwhile, main sponsors are allocated placements on the home page, ensuring a consistent and clean visit experience for fans and sponsors.
We developed a fully bespoke ticketing solution for Jersey Bulls, allowing them to sell match tickets from the website whether on desktop or mobile. Fans can check seat availability, select and pay for their seats online, on a first come first served basis. To help fans choose, the checkout features a detailed seating plan that displays available seats while handling cross-session seat reservations in real time.
Creating the solution involved a complex workflow including dynamic display of match ticket availability, initial ticket reservation, booking and ticket allocation. The system enables Jersey Bulls to seamlessly check in fans at the gate on match day (via a mobile app), minimising administrative and operational costs while enhancing the match day experience for fans.
Social, Brand and Graphics
We provide a range of social media services to help Jersey Bulls attract and reach its fans. This includes creating and posting content, designing sharable graphics and optimising landing pages for maximum impact across social channels. As a result, we’re playing a major role in supporting the functions of the club with the wider community, from helping to secure sufficient stewards for match days to promoting tickets.
Offline Design Input
In addition to the website and social media, WeDigital also provided wide ranging design input offline. We designed the full match programme, enabling the club to offer fans a valued preview and souvenir from their match day experience. We also assisted the club and its sponsor to design and choose the away team kit for Bulls first season. Additionally we designed the match tickets, fostering a singular branded approach that connects all collateral and materials to develop the club’s identity.
Season Ticket Integration
Leveraging the security and authentication expertise of existing WeDigital client Atam, we delivered a holistic season ticketing solution for Jersey Bulls, designed for convenience for fans, and efficiency for the club. Integrating the website sales portal, fans can purchase season tickets online, and collect from Atam kiosk at Springfield.
The purchaser’s photo is taken at the kiosk as they verify their details, ensuring that their card is fully personalised for them. In this way, access to the ground on match day is seamless and rapid for the holder, easy and cost-effective to administer for the club, and eliminates abuse of the season ticket.
